I've been using this app for 8+ years & I love it! There are so many language options & you can pursue multiple at once. I fully credit it for my high fluency in French. I use the paid version now because I want to support future efforts. One negative is they don't always communicate major changes in advance. I once downgraded my rating because I thought they'd wiped out my progress, but, in actuality, they'd just added a ton of new educational content, which made it look like I'd regressed.

I have been using Duolingo on and off for years. I've been currently using it to learn Japanese for about 9 months, and I'm really liking it! Of course, you need to do it alongside some other resource (like Anki for example), but it really helped me learning hiragana and katakana, and it's a great way to force me to review things every day. I don't think I would have kept my streak without the gamification. I love the new features they are introducing (like listening practice in podcast form)!

They tell you they will automatically take out $8 per month ($90/yr). Then you get hit with an almost $90 withdrawal. They also tell you, they will give you a heads up before you 2 wk free trial period is over. They don't. They give out an email for questions and never respond. Customer service is a joke. But that's ok. That $90 is all you're going to get. I use PayPal for a reason. It makes everything easy to cancel. And canceled you are. When this yr is up, I'm going straight to Babbel.
