AWS WickrGov is a secure communications service that helps public and commercial organizations collaborate across messaging, calling, file sharing, and screen sharing with end-to-end encryption within the AWS GovCloud U.S.-West Region. AWS GovCloud is designed to host sensitive data, regulated workloads, and address the most stringent U.S. government security and compliance requirements.

* Runs in AWS GovCloud U.S-West Region, operated by U.S. personnel
* Enables adherence to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
* One-on-one or group messaging: Securely chat with up to 500 Wickr users in a room
* Audio and video calling: Hold conference calls with up to 100 attendees
* Screen sharing and broadcasting: Present with up to 500 participants
* File sharing and saving: Transfer files up to 5GB with unlimited storage
* Configurable ephemeral messaging: Control expiration and burn-on-read timers

Ratings and reviews

This app sends messages. In that vein, Wickr and I can agree that it is indeed a messaging application. However, it can do none of the things even basic SMS can do - you cannot forward messages, photos, or send delayed text messages. In that vein, AWS has failed to deliver a product worth downloading. If there wasn't an implied threat to my free time by my superiors, I wouldn't have bothered downloading it.

This app is about 10 years behind even native text messaging apps, much less Signal or even whatsapp. No delayed send message options. No way to forward messages. No way to screenshot. When you take a pic with the app, it turns it sideways when you send it for no reason. No group pic customization. No GIFs. Message receipt is often delayed enough through you have full service and WiFi. If I didn't -have- to use this app for work, I would not.

It just plain sucksbad! Spoty connections, 30-45m lag to receive msgs. .No custom notifications. . Rooms can get convoluted. .Files are limited to share. .Over all the app needs a massive overhaul to work as well as other chat apps that have been out for years now. considering it's ONLY dod folks. it's right on par with "military grade" Update?! .No screen capture!! even 3rdP apps are out. .No saving ANY file .No sharing, even to another room?! .No fuqs given to a working app..🤦

Note: Beginning with v6.64 (planned for Dec 2025), AWS WickrGov will no longer provide updates for end-of-life Android OSes. Please upgrade to Android 13+.
