About this app

Connect for Lemmy is a native application for browsing the social platform Lemmy and the Fediverse.

Connect for Lemmy highlights:
- Easy to understand. No understanding of federation or ActivityPub required
- Fast. A native application that loads quickly and isn't heavy
- Clean UI. No ads, Material v3 everything.

Hi, I started this project after leaving Reddit and being dissatisfied with the current Lemmy apps. I wanted a browsing experience similar to what I was used to and I hope others who are in a similar situation will enjoy Connect for Lemmy.

I'm liking it so far! It definitely needs some development. One minor thing that i've noticed is that the download button for images and media puts them in my downloads folder, and then the only way to find them to share on other platforms is to go to my file explorer. I've just been screenshotting things instead. Also there are a few typos in the settings, "effect" should be used instead of "affect" when using it as a noun

Great set of features, but there are some bugs. Votes often don't stick. Gestures are too sensitive, and it's way too easy to accidentally save when I meant to upvote. Switching accounts makes my home feed disappear temporarily. Weird things happen on refresh. The app looks chunky sometimes when scrolling. Voyager, a PWA, runs a lot smoother for me, but I hope they iron out the kinks in this one because I like the feature set more. More customization on themes & gestures would be nice.

This app seems like it's off to a really good start, but is missing some functionality to make it even kind of useful for me. Not having a good option to choose what you're seeing on your "front page" or an explanation of what the default is is basically a deal breaker. I will say it works a lot quicker than jerboa does, and looks a bit nicer, but the themes don't affect the whole app in the way I would hope. I'd love to see this developed further, it seems like it's moving in a good direction.
