About this app

This application is the same as the eXport-it HTTP/UPnP client/server but it contains in addition the FFmpeg library to support the UDP multicast streaming server. This additional code requires the support of Android API 25 (Android 7.1). The FFmpeg library is really big and this version of application is really bigger than the original.

To start a multicast channel requires a specific client part of this application, the same as the eXport-it client of my other up-to-date products.
To use a multicast channel can be done with other products like VLC, SMPlayer running on other platforms or on Android...
When using VLC the URL to use a Multicast channel is smoothly different like udp://@239.255.147.111:27192... just with an extra "@".
With an UDP Multicast channel the media data are sent only once to be shown on multiple clients, there is no real synchronization, and the delay can be seconds depending on the buffering and device characteristics.

Listening to an audio multicast channel can be done with other products but the specific client shows images also sent over IP multicast. If you want to send specific photos with your music, you can use the "Page 2" option menu on the server, to select only the images you want, unselect all images with one click, then select these you want...

There are advantages and inconveniences with each protocol. UPnP and Multicast channel can only be used on local network (mainly Wi-Fi), HTTP streaming works locally but also over Internet and use a Web browser as client. UPnP and Multicast channel have no secure way to control access, and any device connected on the Wi-Fi network can use the running server.
With HTTP protocol, you can define user names and passwords, and set files in access categories (groups), limiting access to some media files to specific users.
The settings of the server permits to limit which files are distributed and to set a category name per file.
