This application is a quick and easy-to-use tool for assessment of acute pain in cats based on changes in facial expressions. This tool underwent rigorous scientific validation and it was shown to be valid and reliable for the evaluation of pain in cats with different medical and surgical conditions, using both image- or real-time evaluation.

The Feline Grimace Scale App teaches users about this tool and facilitates real-time pain scoring in cats. It has several drawings and images to facilitate learning, including a practice session. This App can be used by any person.

Ultimately, the Feline Grimace Scale App aims to improve feline pain management across the globe by increasing awareness, providing education, and facilitating the practical assessment of acute pain in cats.

Ratings and reviews

It would be very useful to develop the app to digitally scan and interpret the cat grimace. Too subjective and difficult to use for regular owners with no vet background.

Not sure how accurate it is. It's difficult to report on some issues, some photos in the test look the same. The positions of the cat are very limited.

Love this app! And love the research you are doing. I am from Ecuador, love cats, and have some contacts with animal rights and rescue organisations who would greatly benefit from this app. However, I couldn't find a Spanish version of it. I have experience translating scientific texts between the two languages, and I would be very happy to volunteer translating the contents, so you can add an option to a newer version of the app.
