An imaginative and inspiring app for the 2 - 5 year olds, which invites the child in as an active co-creator of small sound and image stories and as an active participant in play-and-sing-with songs.
The app is free and provides a single imaginative play and learning universe that stimulates the child's language, body senses, emotions and imagination. Here is not a specific conclusion, but a vision that the child on his own terms can be a co-creator and co-poet in the various parts of the app.
Purpose of the app:
• To contribute to learning taking place in exploratory, curious and playful ways.
• To inspire the child's further play and desire to tell stories.
• To function as a pedagogical tool for working with the strengthened curriculum with special focus on play and on curriculum themes on aesthetics, community and culture, body, senses and movement as well as language and communication.
• To inspire children and adults to bodily interaction, study and experimentation.
• To inspire day care to develop the physical and aesthetic learning environments in the institution.
• To sharpen the child's concentration, memory and visual attention through linguistic and bodily interaction.
Contents
The app contains two main functions: "Find and tell" and "Sing and play".
"Find and tell" consists of a number of play universes, which can be tested in two levels of difficulty with different numbers of elements and interactions on the page.
Here the child can go exploring and try his hand at his own pace. The child can explore and experiment by tapping and moving things around in a drawn 2D universe. This can be done, for example, by lifting stones with the burial cow on the construction site or finding and moving the treasure on the bottom of the sea. The play universes encourage dialogue and conversation about the things that are going on, both audibly and visually.
Under the "Sing and play" function, there are 10 play-and-sing-with videos with subtitles and visual demonstrations with movements, gestures and facial expressions that invite children and adults to the floor. The singing games revolve around different basic moods, from the energetic and bearded, to the "dangerous" and magical towards the more gentle and quiet. In the "Sing and play" section, there is also a short interactive story - "Kif kaf kuffert story", where the child meets a couple of the common characters in the app: Big Banjo, Little Banjo and the play fairy. These figures have their origins in a physical material consisting of cardboard song cards, large crowded cardboard pictures and suitcases with hand puppets. The material is lent through the Center for Learning, Aarhus Municipality. Contact Børnekulissen at boernekulissen@mbu.aarhus.dk.

The app as a digital and analog universe:
A significant part of the app’s visual universe is taken from Børnekulissen’s Adventure Room at the Center for Learning in Aarhus Municipality. Here, children and adults in Aarhus day care can visit and physically experience the universes that are present in the app. In other words, they can step into the big iPad and with body and senses go exploring and explore space. At the Center for Learning, day care will subsequently have the opportunity to borrow learning material that is linked to the experience of the room and the app.
