WHAT’S IDENTITY THEFT?
Cybercriminals and hackers love getting their hands on your data because they use it to scam and steal from you. But even worse is when they get enough data to steal your identity.

With the right details, a scammer can drain your bank account, take out loans in your name, shop online at your expense, and even steal your medical records. It all starts with data leaks. Guardio searches all corners of the internet, including the Dark Web, for your data. If we find it’s been leaked or exposed somewhere it shouldn't be, we let you know immediately. This gives you crucial time to protect or update your most sensitive data - passwords, credit cards, etc - before the bad guys can sell it. This is how you stay safe from identity theft.

WHAT’S A DATA LEAK?
Simply put, a data leak is when your personal, sensitive information is exposed online. These days we do everything online. We shop online, manage our bank account, speak to the doctor, take out insurance, pay our bills, order pizza - you name it. Most people have, on average, around 130 active online accounts at any time. And every one of those accounts starts with your email address. Every time you sign up or log in, you give your email address, along with a bunch of other details.

Sometimes data is leaked by accident, but more often it is stolen. Data can be stolen in a phishing attack, or in a data breach. When hackers attack a platform or company website, they steal customer records. Millions, if not billions of records are stolen every year. Hackers breach a company and leak the data they steal online.

Everything is locked behind a free trial and a subscription. I rejected the free trial by tapping the X and closing the in-app window. You can't do anything with the free version; you need to opt in to the free trial which will convert to the subscription once the trial is over. Otherwise, the free version of Guard.io is very slow and laggy. It's an unresponsive app at times. My device is a 2022 Motorola G Stylus 5G.

More like 2 ½. Not what it sounded like. It makes it seem kind of like an anti-virus program that will scan your phone for malware or anything that could be harmful, but it doesn't do that. Plus, what automatically made me cancel it, was that it goes and puts a hold for the $10. So, even though they haven't technically charged you, it's kind of like they did because you can't use that money. I could understand a $1 pending hold just to make sure the account we enter is valid, but not the $10.

This is all a sham. Do NOT download, or get the "free" trial. I was charged $119 immediately. Now I have done free trials before but never have I ever had any of those businesses touch my money before the trial period was over. This doesn't really foster trust in a potential customer when stuff like this goes on. Thankfully it was immediately put back after I cancelled it, especially since it chose the full year price instead of the monthly price I selected. Read the fine print my friends.
