Under the project “QUAKEWATCH - Seismic Surveillance Information System for Mitigation of Seismovulcan Risk in the Azores”, funded by the Azores Operational Program 2020, through Priority Axis 5 - Climate Change and Risk Management, the Seismovulcan Information and Surveillance Center dos Açores (CIVISA), in partnership with the Institute of Research on Volcanology and Risk Assessment (IVAR) of the University of the Azores, offers the free application “Azores Quake”.
Current features of the “Azores Quake” application include: (i) consultation of seismicity registered in the Azores by the CIVISA Permanent Seismic Monitoring Network, (ii) automatic notification of the occurrence of new earthquakes, (iii) easy access the macro seismic survey, which is essential for assessing the effects of earthquakes; and (iv) the dissemination of seismological communications.
CIVISA highlights the functionality of the “FEEL A SYSTEM?” Key, which will allow everyone to quickly and efficiently access the macrosismic survey form and contribute to the analysis of the effects of earthquakes in the Azores. As such, it is appealed to use this feature if you feel an earthquake.
