About this app

192.168.1.3 — The Second Box on Your Network

192.168.1.3 is the third address of a very common home subnet. It sits close enough to the router that it usually got reserved on purpose.

✦ WHERE IT COMES FROM
When a second router, a mesh satellite or a managed switch with a web page joins a network, it takes one of the first free low numbers. .2 goes first, then .3, which is why those two so often hold the extra equipment.

✦ TOOLS INCLUDED
• Read the WiFi key from the router label or its QR code, nothing kept or sent
• Network tools: response time, speed and DNS — these tests query public servers on the Internet
• One tap to the admin page, in a browser built into the app
• Factory logins for 298 router brands, with the ones you tried marked

✦ COMMON TASKS
• Open the page of the device on .3
• Confirm which box is really your gateway
• Look at your WiFi signal, band and channel

✦ ONE MORE THING
A second router on .3 may still be running its own address server. Two of those on one network is the reason some devices connect happily and others never get anywhere.

✦ LIMITS
No password is broken and nothing is unlocked from a distance. The app loads the local page of your own equipment and lists factory credentials that are published openly.

Built to save you the address bar and the guesswork.

What’s new

When the admin page fails to answer, you now get a clear message from the app itself, with one button to try again and another to go back, instead of the web engine's technical screen. The wait has been shortened too: an unreachable address is reported in about a dozen seconds rather than after a long minute, and the countdown stops as soon as the page starts to appear.
