About this app

Every year in Bangladesh, about four (04) lakh people are victims of snakebite and about seven thousand five hundred (7,500) people die. Most of the people die because the patient is treated unscientifically by witch doctors or Vedas and delayed in taking them to the hospital. Therefore, knowing the necessary information about snakes and being careful can save lives from snakebite. Keeping this in mind, this mobile app called Awareness, Rescue and Protection in Snakebite, the first in the country, has been developed under the Innovation Grant funded by the Sustainable Forest and Livelihood (SUFAL) project implemented by the Forest Department to establish Smart Bangladesh.

This app has ten (10) important features. Through this app, the general public will be able to easily know the overall details of fifteen (15) venomous and fifteen (15) non-venomous and mildly venomous snake species. In addition, signs, symptoms and what to do after a snakebite; first aid for snakebite; Regarding the availability of snake bite treatment and antivenom, the mobile numbers and Google maps of all the general hospitals (60), medical college hospitals (36), upazila hospitals (430) in the country have been linked, so that the public can easily contact the hospital after a snake bite; There is a contact feature to know and know any information related to snake bites and wildlife rescue; List of trained snake rescuers for snake rescue based on the district; Common superstitions related to snakes, important videos and importance of snakes, list with pictures of snake species in Bangladesh and national emergency numbers, etc. are available in this app.

Snake bites are an unexpected accident. Snakes bite both during the day and night. Snake infestation increases in our country during the rainy season. The number of snake bites increases during the rainy season, because during the rainy season, the water is flooded with rat holes and the snakes take shelter in high places around the house in search of dry places. In Bangladesh, the victims of snakebites are usually the working class people of rural areas. There are many misconceptions and superstitions about snakes among the general public. The main purpose of this app is to dispel these misconceptions and superstitions and to make the public aware of what to do after a snakebite.
