About this app

Puhu suomea application allows you to practise your Finnish at places of business in Oulu.

The app includes certain places in Oulu that are displayed on your phone's map app. These include, for example, the main library, restaurants, art museum and Villa Victor. You can use Finnish during your visit and transactions at these places. At the end of your visit, you can request a QR code and have a record of your visit created on your phone.

The app contains a variety of business phrases and vocabulary that you can use to help you during your visits and transactions. You can also listen to how the phrases are pronounced. With the apps’s help, you will be able to use the language in real-life interactions.

Puhu suomea application is intended for all learners of Finnish at an elementary level who are attending a Finnish language course or studying the language independently.

You can use the app without logging in. It does not collect any personal or other data.

Puhu suomea application is a language learning app developed by the University of Oulu and the City of Oulu's Multicultural Centre Villa Victor. It encourages both you and the person serving you to use Finnish while out and about.
