Plastic products have become an integral part of our daily life as a result of which the polymer is produced at a massive scale worldwide. Once plastic is discarded after its utility is over, it is known as plastic waste. Ballia District Administration has set up a Plastic Waste Management Model that utilizes collection points at all local government schools. Students are encouraged to learn about pollution and participate in the program by depositing wrappers, single-use plastic bags, plastic waste, bottles, etc., at designated waste collection points in each school. These are in turn collected by Garbage/Rag collectors, segregated and then delivered to a Plastic Waste Recycling Plant within the district. This helps to create a socio-technical model for taking plastic waste management from informal to formal economy. This mobile app provides digital support in tracking the flow from collection points to the recycling plant.
