About this app

John Trapp, (1601 - 1669), was an Anglican Bible commentator from England. His commentary stretches over five-volume commentary and is still read today. It is known for its concise statements. His volumes are quoted often by many religious writers, including Charles Spurgeon and Ruth Graham.

Trapp studied at Christ Church, Oxford getting his M.A. in 1624. He took the side of parliament in the English Civil War and was jailed for some time. When released he served as a chaplain to the parliamentary soldiers in Stratford for two years. He served as a rector in Gloucestershire until 1660 and then as vicar until his death.

Quotes from John Trapp:

"He who rides to be crowned will not mind a rainy day."
"Be careful what books you read, for as water tastes of the soil it runs through, so does the soul taste of the authors that a man reads."
