About this app

LEGACY: The OpenMax API is deprecated, you need a 32 bit RPI OS and omxplayer installed to run it.

Cast YouTube videos
Cast media content from your android device
Play local media files on your Raspberry Pi
Play streams from playlists (m3u, pls) on your Raspberry Pi

Requirements:
You just need a Raspberry Pi with a running SSH-Server, the omxplayer and optional a little image viewer. I only tested it with Raspbian, but there is no reason why it shouldn't work on other distributions.

Features:
Controllable via a seekbar
Hardware volume buttons
Support for multiple audio and subtitle (srt-format) streams

Usage:
To cast YouTube videos to your Raspberry Pi just open the YouTube app and a video and choose "Share" → Raspicast.
To play streams just copy a playlist (m3u or pls format) to your android device and open the list via the app, or play the streams manually from the actionbar.

Worked after I switched the audio output to ALSA — by default in Settings > Audio Options sets HDMI, but my speakers where connected to the audio jack so that needed to be changed. Hoping to see further development and improvements. Also has the bonus of being able to play files on the remote box.

When, as I imagine many will know, using a Pi Zero with the intention of streaming videos, say from YouTube, is useless because of the Ram capacity on its board. However, using Raspicast to directly cast from the app on my phone to the pi zero connected to my 21inch tv it works, and has a crystal clear picture and no buffering issues or freezes so far - spectacular eh. So that is my use of this app. Nevertheless, one star is lacking from 5 because it would be nice to have a few more functions.

works well with youtube videos. Has some problems with YouTube streams. It would be nice if you could share videos from other platforms as well (using youtube-dl). Smartphone screen sharing could also be an interesting feature. In any case, good work.
