This Android application is an explanation between the sacrifice, the committee and the butcher by Ahmad Zarkasih, Lc. In PDF format.

On the one hand, the qurban committees that we do a lot today, did not happen at the time of the Prophet s.a.w. in the sense that once the companions, including the Prophet s.a.w. when the holidays came, he s.a.w and his companions slaughtered their own qurban without having to be gathered and focused in one place. Then after that they donate the slaughtered meat to the poor and fuqara. And it is also done alone, not employing any of them. That's what usually happens.

So, collecting sacrifices in one place and becoming the distribution center for the distribution of qurbani meat has happened recently; in the sense that we never found committees like this at the time of the Prophet s.a.w.

On the other hand, the actual practice of this existing committee is a practice that is not very recent, even the Prophet s.a.w. have done any part of the existing committee. Namely in the hadith of sayyidinia Ali r.a. following :

Rasulullah SAW ordered me to take care of his sacrificial camels.

I donated its meat, skin and jilal (skin that is put on the camel's back to protect it from the cold). I don't give anything from the slaughtered qurbani to the butcher. He said, "We will pay wages to butchers from our own money." (HR. Muslim).

What did sayyidina Ali r.a. is what the committee is doing now. He took care of the camels slaughtered by the Prophet s.a.w., and the Prophet s.a.w s.a.w. give some messages; namely distributing meat to the poor as alms, and another message not to give butchers wages from slaughtered meat.

3 job desks of Sayyidina Ali who were ordered by the Prophet s.a.w. in this hadith is the work that was also carried out by the committee; that is, taking care of slaughtering, distributing, and hiring butchers with money, not from slaughtering. And these three are all the work of the committee now, it's just that the work of the current committee is much more. They don't just slaughter, but they also buy and coordinate who wants to jointly buy sacrificial animals.

So the question is, what is the actual status of the qurban committee? And can they get rations of qurban meat according to the view of the scholars of the fiqh school of thought?
