Inconsistent, unreliable, poorly implemented, I could go on. Merging onto a highway while staying well under the speed limit? That'll be two separate instances of "hard" acceleration, dinging your score over 100 points. The fact Mentor respond to negative reviews with copypasta corporate/PR wording like it's AI shows just how much care and attention goes into this absolute failure and dumpster fire of an app. EDIT: Just as predicted. Check out their auto BS auto-response.

Thanks for the feedback. Mentor can be a powerful ally in helping to change high-risk behaviors behind the wheel. We recommend focusing on your trend of progress vs. each infraction or perceived wrong recorded by Mentor. There will be ups and downs, good drives and better drives. Keep focused and working to improve your FICO® Safe Driving Score!

Absolute trash app My response: I consistently rate in the 800-850 category. The reason I say this app is trash is because it doesn't work as well as it needs to. I've gotten 2 events for the same turn before, I get "phone manipulation" for using the flex app while my van is parked. Furthermore, this app discourages safe driving in some situations. If you press the break too hard your score goes down, so better to blow through the yellow light than to stop safely, albeit hard.

Thanks for the feedback. We implore you to take your driving responsibilities seriously and encourage you to continue working to eliminate risky behaviors such as those noted in your review and those specifically identified by Mentor including rapid acceleration, harsh braking, harsh cornering, distraction, and speeding.

As others have mentioned, the scoring needs a major fix as the app reduces your score for false penalties. As a software engineer, I understand much of why they do this, but in practicality (on the road) is different from theory (behind a computer monitor). For instance, backing up is a feature, not a safety hazard. It becomes a safety hazard when one isn't paying attention while reversing. This app needs improvement before it can help drivers improve.
