Overview

AlterKnight is an open world RPG that blends exploration, character progression, and strategic turn-based combat into a deep mobile gaming experience. Inspired by classic role-playing games; AlterKnight uses procedural generation to create a world that is virtually limitless in size. Delve into underground ruins, protect innocent villagers, ascend towers to face foes, explore caves, and enter portals to other realms as you battle to cleanse the world of darkness.

Spells, Abilities, & Equipment

The journey will be difficult, but along the way you will find help. For each battle that you emerge victorious your powers will grow. Choose from 72 unique spells and abilities to create a custom class of your own design. Become a powerful warrior, an agile assassin, an elemental mage, a summoner, a healer, or something else entirely.

Discover an assortment of weapons, armors, trinkets, rings, amulets, and runes that will further boost your combat prowess. Randomly generated equipment can have multiple effects like attack speed, spell power, or critical hit chance. Find items from defeated foes, as quest rewards, or from hidden chests in the world.

Explore the World

As you reclaim areas of the world from darkness, you will unlock Shops, Blacksmiths, Taverns, and Shrines. Purchase or sell items at vendors, earn temporary boosts from shrines, and recruit allies at Taverns to accompany you on your quests. Choose from a variety of NPC allies like robust Knights, agile Rogues, or versatile Battlemages to create your own unique party of heroes.

Find and collect helpful consumables along the way that can be used to give you an edge in battle. Magical flowers bloom across the world and can be combined to yield potions. Rare blue gems can also be found and used at certain locations to unlock additional talent points to spend on spells and abilities.

Defend your Realm

Protect the lands you have cleared of enemies by building upgradable constructs. Discover magical stones that can be used to build structures that can attack invading enemies, generate gold for your personal use, or function as batteries to recharge your other constructs. Place your structures carefully and create your own series of fortifications across the land to keep the forces of darkness at bay.

Ratings and reviews

Different review: I've returned to this after a long time, and after having a closer look, I feel there could be a lot more options in choosing the player/ally appearance. If a built-in editor or outside-app picture importing is not feasible, then perhaps having a wider selection to choose from would be nice. It shouldn't matter what class it is either (I recruited a sorceress equipped with a greatsword 😋). I'm saying this here since I don't know where else to easily reach you.

Total freedom in customizing your character, fun to experiment and scale in whatever build you want. Very addicting. My 2 notes that dont really affect much: the map UI could use a little help. It also doesnt do anything for you when you're in dungeons. Second, I move to the tile I intend to summon a troop in like 30% of the time. I know I'm making a mistake when I do it but clicking the spell and then the target feels intuitive

Fun, albeit redundant at times. Still, great fun where strategy really plays strong in the battles. My one, current question: is 3 the maximum party members allowed (currently)? With the developer asking about feedback, I would say, personally, that a max 4-man team would be better than 3-man, BUT only of enemies scale (even more) with more team members; either by increasing in number of enemies per world mob/dungeon floor, or increasing their overall strength per level depending on team size.
