About this game

CATCHING NUMERALS – math game v1.2

INTRODUCTION

The Catching Numerals is a math game which trains brain for rapid solving of basic math problems while helping the development of fine motor skills. It can also include inspirational quotes from eminent men at the end of each solved task. Besides, it can be used as a tool for searching photos on chosen topics and later possibly using those photos and quotes for one’s own projects (with an attribution to their authors). Each quote is accompanied with author’s name and each photo with a link to the author’s page.

GAME INSTRUCTIONS

The goal in this game is to find the correct solution for randomly selected math equations and to catch, drag and drop the appropriate falling numeral(s) onto the question mark within the equation, before that numeral falls off the game scene. All these moves should be done while also trying to collect the coins associated with the falling numerals into the coin bag. These coins can be spent for downloading quotes and photos, and changing game’s wallpaper. Numerals' falling speed increases gradually from level 1 through level 10. At the entry game levels, that is the levels from 1 through 5, the numerals’ falling speed is slow enough to accomplish all these actions with ease or with a little effort. However, at the higher game levels, accomplishing all these actions together, becomes more challenging.

At each level, equations go through four basic arithmetic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. During each operation, the question mark within the equation moves from the result part to the second operand and then to the first one.

EXAMPLE

Let’s say we are playing the game in the arithmetic operation of multiplication. The first randomly selected equation might be something like: 9 x 2 = ??. The solution to this equation is 18. Therefore, to solve this task we need to catch and drag-drop numeral 1 and numeral 8 onto the first and second question mark. The next randomly selected equation might be something like: 5 x ? = 25, and the solution would be to catch and drag-drop numeral 5 on the question mark. Yet another equation might be something like this: ? x 0 = 0 or 0 x ? = 0. That is, it might be an equation in which its multiplier or multiplicand is multiplied by zero. The solution for such kind of math equations is any number, because any number multiplied by zero is zero. Therefore, in such situations, the solution to the game task is to pick any of the falling numerals and drag-drop it onto the question mark within the equation.
