Shell Recharge is with you for the journey – wherever and whenever you need to recharge your electric vehicle. Our user-friendly mobile app allows you to locate charging stations, initiate and end charging sessions, check real-time charging status, and view charging history. Access nearly 60,000 charging stations across North America. With the Shell Recharge app, driving an EV has never been easier.


Features allow you to:

• Locate a charger: View all available Shell Recharge charging stations and stations of our roaming partners on the map and bookmark your favorites
• Customize your view: Filter charging stations by plug type to find the best options for your car
• Check pricing: See the estimated cost for charging before you start
• Seamlessly start a session: Us the mobile app to start a charge by scanning a QR code or inputting a charging station ID
• Get a real-time view: View your current charging session status
• Control your account: Access your payment history and receive timely push or email notifications related to your account and charging sessions

Ratings and reviews

The Volta app was able to show if a station was working and available. Not anymore. All stations show as 'offline' in the app. You just have to show up at the station and roll the dice to see if 1) it's working and 2) if it's not being used by someone else.

This app literally only exists to harvest your data and money. I used to be able to charge for free at volta stations with no app, just plug and it charged; but now, even after installing this app and giving it whatever data it wants, it still will not allow you to charge without having a balance in your in-app wallet FOR FREE CHARGING STATIONS!

The app is unable to start a charging session at Shell Recharge stations. At one level 2 charger, it gets stuck at "Authorizing" and the station never seems to respond. At another CCS charger, the first time, I got a charge equipment error, and retrying, I got a "Card authorization failed". Fortunately, I was able to use the Chargepoint app (with the same card at the same station) to start charging. Instructions on whether to plug in vs authorize first are also unclear.
