About this app

AnDrop is a simple tool that aims to imitate the ease of use a similar non-Android OS app provides.

A tap on the share button inside your photo gallery or file explorer starts the WiFi discovery and let's you share the file to any mac in the same WiFi without any setup. Just install and start the AnDrop client on your mac and you are good to go.

It is fast, easy and get's the job done. Let me know in the reviews what you think of AnDrop!

Disclaimer: Since I had multiple people thinking a tip is needed for this app to work: AnDrop is free and will stay free! So tipping is absolutely voluntary!

It works to a point. With too many limitations. I found this app when looking for a way to get my old photos off an android phone and onto my macbook. It does work, sort of. Downloaded the app onto my macbook from the app store and onto my android phone from the google store. Did a test run with a single photo - boom, there it was. It's unfortunate that you can't choose a destination folder, but I figured I would just hand transfer them where I wanted them to go. QUICKLY discovered that you can only send a handful of files at a time. OK, that was a REAL headache. Select a few photos, hit share, select AnDrop, select the macbook... switch to the macbook, ACCEPT the files, wait for them to download, shift them to the folder where I wanted them to reside. OK, this is getting to be a bit tedious, but I decided to just plow through. At this point I was committed to the process. Then, after one of the transfers, AnDrop stopped finding my macbook. "Searching for client," it told me. And searched. And searched. I checked wifi on both devices. Working fine. But AnDrop was just done. I guess it figured it had worked hard enough. So, yeah, NOT going to be putting money into their tip jar as thanks for transferring a few files in small chunks with lots of clicking required. Off in search of a more reliable method for doing this. There MUST be a more reliable, faster way of doing this. Sigh.

Hey Kimberly, Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately most photo apps do not allow sharing more than 200 files at once. This is a limitation not established by AnDrop. I will definitely look into the issue you reported about your MacBook not being discovered. Folder selection was not something people requested but will definitely come if wanted.

This works great on Samsung s9 running android 11 and MacBook Pro 2019 running Catalina. I just wish file transfer worked both ways! IMPORTANT EDIT: the file transferred to your mac will have it's creation date rewritten as the day&time you transferred it. If you are moving old photos please note you will no longer be able to organize them by date. Taking off a star from my review cuz of this. Would be nice to have this fixed

This is a great catch. I did not think about this when designing the transfer algorithm (but should have). This will need changes on both sides (Mac and Android App). I will look into it. Thanks for pointing it out!

doesn't work. Downloaded on phone and work Mac. go to transfer files, and phone cannot find anywhere to transfer to. wonder if app won't work until I give tip. would make this a non free app if so. edit: no, the teo devices were on different WiFi networks. changing rating to 3 star neutral due to my ignorance.

Dear Sause, this app is free and will stay free. I am sorry if AnDrop cannot find your mac device. I will look into this issue with your configuration. Are you sure you joined the same WiFi on both devices? I just released a version that reminds you of joining a wifi before search for clients. I hope you can have a better experience with that.
