The gas works in Augsburg Oberhausen
Immerse yourself in the history of gas production in Augsburg and experience the historic ambience at the new creative location!
With this app, the former industrial site can be experienced independently of time and place. With a series of tours through the outdoor area and the gasworks museum, you can embark on a journey through time from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day. Guests not only get to see extraordinary views of the building, but also meet "GASIUS", the patron saint of the gas works.
This app was created in cooperation between the two associations »Gaswerksfreunde Augsburg« and »Pareaz«. They bring guests closer to the Gaswerk cultural heritage and help to preserve the unique industrial architecture. In consultation with the owner, Stadtwerke Augsburg Holding, the gasworks friends organize historical tours and run the gasworks museum. In cultural and media projects, Pareaz develops digital offerings that serve the common good.
Gaswerk Augsburg is a creative place of the future. The huge area has been undergoing a transformation since the end of 2015. Through the swa KreativWerk GmbH & Co KG, a subsidiary of the swa Holding, a space for development and innovations is created here together with cultural workers and the city of Augsburg. Both creative companies and committed associations ensure that the cultural offerings on site expand.
The development of this app was made possible by funding from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media and the German Association for Archeology e.V. as part of the New Culture program and by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation - State Office for the non-governmental museums in Bavaria.
