A practical app with lots of possible use cases. The UI is friendly and intuitive, as I'd expect from the people behind StreetComplete. More importantly, it gives spot-on horizontal and vertical measurements (use the button in the corner to swap modes). When measuring heights, the starting point can sometimes float above the ground, but after moving your phone around a bit it 'locks on' and stays right where you placed it.

If you follow the hints given in the info dialog, you actually do not really need to worry about the arrow floating above the ground because if you measure like suggested in that hint, it doesn't matter for the accuracy of the measurement.
(After all, the arrow could also be floating just slightly above the ground without you noticing)
