Orphans was suggested to me as being similar to An Elmwood Trail, but it isn't. They both use conversations on a cell phone with limited responses on my end to tell a story. Orphans also only has one screen, which is the phone. I played Orphans for around an hour and the plot barely progressed. The text appears so slow to me, as an avid reader, that I was bored waiting for it to pop up. If I could tap to speed up messages I might play more but as is it's boring.

I love these kinds of games, and I'm hooked so far, I even enjoy the mini games. The issue is that it's impossible to get through the mini game levels without spending in-game money or watching a ton of ads (which doesn't always help.) They feel rigged to lose to the point that waiting for your lives to restore makes you lose interest. Other than that, the game is fun and pretty spooky!

The story is really fun! I just hate how there isn't really any puzzles like An Elmwood Trail. Well, there is the hacking dot game, but that really sucks. It's super repetitive, and you only get one coin from doing so, and if you don't want to do it, you have to pay coins to skip it. And if you can't do it in the very few moves they give you, you either have to pay coins to get more moves or watch ads, and eventually, the ads go away. And the sad thing is, is that you can't avoid them.
