The biblical canon of the Catholic Church recognizes 73 books as part of Holy Scripture. It comprises 46 writings for the Old Testament, and 27 for the New Testament.
It contains the deuterocanonical books, while the Bible used by Protestants lacks the seven deuterocanonical books (Tobit, Judith, Wisdom, Sirach, Baruch, 1 Maccabees and 2 Maccabees), and parts of Esther and Daniel.
