Hola! We are an Irish couple (Jane and Brian) living in Spain and learning Spanish. We started Ella Verbs as we were looking for a way to improve our Spanish verbs and make the jump from intermediate to advanced Spanish speakers. We tried many ways to improve our Spanish grammar (books, apps, tutors – you name it, we tried it!), but never found the one that clicked. So we built it!

We aren’t your typical Spanish flashcards or verb trainer app. Our philosophy is “learn, quiz, repeat”. We teach you, then quiz you and then surface content again when you need it most. It’s been proven that quizzing helps with concentration, identifying gaps in knowledge and long term retention (Roediger & Karpicke, 2006). Because it's just the two of us, we personally read and respond to every feedback email and review. So if you have an idea, issue, question or whatever, please get in touch! Wow, this is an excellent app. So simple, but exactly (exactly!) what I need. I'm a low-intermediate Spanish speaker and after only a few days I can already feel that I'm getting better. The format and tools are very thoughtful. Can't recommend enough! Plus, the creators are highly responsive, kind, and very helpful when I had a little issue come up on my end.

Your app address a need that I haven't seen in other apps. I'm currently in Spanish at college, and the course materials at my college always rush through or have convoluted lessons. But your app I find is very straightforward and specific and addresses this very common grammar issue which is understanding and being able to produce the tenses. You don't mix memorization of verbs with conjugation for example. It's focused. I will gladly upgrade to Pro.

This is one of the best apps I've used so far in my Spanish language journey, and I've easily used over 20(?) give or take. It's direct, easy to navigate, and has a ton of helpful content. Highly, highly recommend if you're trying to learn conjugation and verbs or refresh your knowledge!

What's new

We now accept both forms of the Subjunctive Imperfect and Subjunctive Past Perfect tenses, not just the more popular form! For example, both "hablara" & "hablase" and "hubiera hablado" & "hubiese hablado" are valid answers now for the respective tenses.

This update also includes some more new verbs and a fix for a sporadic issue with gustar (sorry!).
