One of the main objectives of the Interfungi project is to conserve the popular heritage of the elderly in rural areas, in danger of disappearing, promoting the generational change of knowledge of the fungi kingdom through the creation of the rural-urban mycological tutor-mentor binomial with the participation of teams or pairs of observers from different generations (eg grandparents and grandchildren) that promote the exchange of knowledge between the rural and urban worlds.
The involvement of young people in the generation of mycological citizen science hand in hand with the experience of their mentors will allow, on the one hand, to transfer the knowledge of years about the fruiting patterns of fungal species, the production areas and the productive potential . Likewise, it will allow the transfer of the use of social networks and computer applications that facilitate the generation of project data from grandchildren to grandparents.
