About this app

The companion app for LivePen from Livescribe. When used together, whatever you write and draw in ink on paper in the real world is instantly captured on your smartphone to use in your digital world. It’s kind of like magic!

For millennia, we have written on paper to capture our ideas, sketches and notes. But all of that content, all of those imaginative thoughts have been trapped in ink on paper in the real world to probably be misplaced, lost or forgotten.

Not anymore. With the LivePen app paired with LivePen, we’ve unlocked the ability to instantly bring your handwritten world, captured in ink on paper, to digital life.

So, a scribbled down shopping list? Immediately on your phone.
Handwritten notes from the classroom? Immediately available on your phone.
Important notes from a business meeting? Already converted to text on your phone.
Inspired sketched idea? Ready to share, instantly on your phone.

Update: still 1 star as the app is still very buggy. It now loses parts of documents that had previously been captured. The transcription feature is pretty good at recognizing text, but it does weird things with diagrams. This new pen also doesn't support older paper products, not even the 1-subject notebooks that are still sold on their website. Bluetooth connection is flaky. Not useful yet.

my experience is very unsatisfactory and I do not recommend that you buy the live pain oh I mean livepen. the issue is the app. I recorded and transferred about 48 pages but since then it stopped transferring the data. I know the pain is connected because I can see the pen information on the phone. and it says it's transferring data but nothing is coming in. it disconnects in a couple minutes. when it was working the data transfer rate was extremely slow. I'm just not getting what I paid for.

Functionality is close to non-existent. All you can do is view an image of your notes plus an automatic transcription. There is no way to make corrections to the transcription. Incredibly, you can't even select and copy the transcribed text, which begs the question what the point of the transcription feature is. You can share the page image like any other document (not the transcription, though), but there's no integration with Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.
