DIMS Capture allows Law Enforcement the ability to collect digital evidence in the field, quickly, securely, and without leaving unnecessary copies on the device. By default, media is stored only inside the app’s encrypted sandbox, uploaded directly to your agency’s DIMS environment (Cloud or on-prem), then auto-deleted from the app once the sync succeeds.
What you can do
Capture at the source: photos, video, audio, and document scans using the device camera/mic.
Add required context: case/incident numbers, tags, notes, people/places, and admin-defined custom fields.
Secure, direct ingest to DIMS: encryption in transit and at rest; server-side integrity checks (hashing) on ingest.
Offline first: queue captures with full metadata while offline; they sync automatically when connectivity returns.
Auto-delete after sync (default): once DIMS confirms receipt, the app removes its local copy to minimize device residue.
Timestamp and optional GPS location to strengthen evidentiary reliability.
Optional: Admin-enabled gallery uploads
File import from the device gallery (photos/videos/docs) can be enabled by an administrator when policy allows bringing in pre-existing media.
When enabled, the app will request Photos/Media permissions and let users attach selected items to a case.
Important: Importing does not alter or delete the user’s originals in the gallery; DIMS Capture keeps a working copy inside the app until upload completes. After verified upload, the in-app working copy is auto-deleted per policy (the original remains in the gallery unless the user removes it).
