The Translation in Today's English Version, briefly called NLT, is a Bible translation in modern and understandable language in Portuguese.
This translation of the Bible takes a grammatical structure and closer to the language used by simple people in Brazil.
For simpler language, colloquial, the NIV is geared to people who have not had or had little contact with the classic biblical reading. So that became an evangelization tool for having a clearer and more easily understandable text, not strive for classical language which generally guides these translations. The new version, however, does not use slang or regionalism, a factor that did not allow to be lost the biblical style.
The principles followed in this review were the same that guided the work of translation Today's English Version. The translation of King James and also other good existing translations in Portuguese followed the principles of formal equivalence translation. Already the NIV, guided by the principles of translation functional or dynamic equivalence.
Anyway, it's a very useful translation by approaching the biblical text of the commonly spoken language by people on a daily basis.
