Radio Pitești - local information and a challenge for the Arges press

Argeș's audiovisual can be said to be very "young", with a history that begins after the 1989 Revolution. But, at the same time, we are among the first counties where sounds and images were broadcast on the air, even in December 1989, in the period of politically turbulent events, due to the Trivale relay.

Local radios and televisions were formed and developed according to the pattern specific to the Romanian political, cultural and regional context.

The first 10-15 years after the Revolution meant the period when the old denied landmarks were quickly replaced by models not yet adopted. Hence the main feature of local radio and television: the familiarity of the characters and subjects, the palpability of events and the ability to verify the veracity of information.

The potential audiovisual audience in Argeș and Muscel was in the decade 1990-2000, insignificant as a target for consumption, compared to the decade 2000-2010, despite a larger population in 1990 compared to 2010. Thus, according to statistical data, made public by the National Institute of Statistics, in Argeș, the population in 1990 was 680,056 people, and in 2011, at the last census of 591,300.

The huge leap from under-information to over-information, including modern mass-media technologies, has also meant an unprecedented evolution in media consumption, including community information.

Thus, in Argeș there were in 2013, 15 radio stations and 90% of the households in the county were wired and received an audiovisual signal.

The explosion of the online segment and the economic context in recent years has moved a large part of media consumers into the living environment leading to the disappearance of some media institutions, including some radios. In 2020, in Pitesti, they will broadcast only a few radio stations without having, however, a local news bulletin. Precisely this lack of information from Argeș County will try to replace Radio Pitești, which in the program schedule will have news, live broadcasts, takeovers from press conferences, press magazine, shows. We launch a challenge to all colleagues from the Argeș press who want to present their journalistic work to use the new radio channel to present their own media materials and thus putting their talent, experience and passion for reuniting the local press with a radio of ours. We are waiting for you together with the listeners who love quality music and serious media content on www.radiopitesti.ro!
