About this app

In the case of cardiac-respiratory arrest (ACR) out of hospital, the "gold standard", defined by international guidelines, is defibrillation within 3-5 minutes from the start of the arrest, to achieve a survival of up to 50-70%. Early defibrillation (DP) can be obtained by first responders through the use of public access or on-site defibrillators (AED - Automated External Defibrillator). The guidelines also recommend the use of innovative technologies to aid the rapid deployment of rescuers for out-of-hospital cardiac-respiratory arrest (ACR) victims.

The main objective of this project is to use the technologies available today to immediately and automatically alert lay staff trained in the use of AEDs, at the very moment of the activation of the emergency vehicles by the 118 Operations Center, reducing thus the time of application of defibrillation of victims of ACR.

The app was therefore designed and built in order to promote and make more efficient the use of AEDs in the area by qualified lay people (Firts responder - BLSD).

The app is fully integrated with the 118 OPERATION CENTER of the Republic of San Marino and allows you to alert registered people who are in the vicinity of a Cardiac Arrest (ACR) event, at the same time as the 118 Operations Center records it. . Those who receive the alert can therefore make themselves available to intervene. The app shows on the map the registered and available AEDs, according to the consultation time, and the place of the event on which to intervene.

The app also provides, from a collaborative perspective, the possibility of participating in the system in the census of AEDs present in the area with the functions: "report a new AED" and "report a problem".

For each AED, in addition to the location, it is possible to define the availability (days, times) to make the location more effective in case of emergency, and also to manage the information relating to maintenance deadlines, with the future aim of making it more effective monitoring the presence of AEDs on the territory.

Finally, the app has a document section which contains links of interest, FAQs, Procedures, etc.
