They are continually looking for means to increase production and profitability. Therefore, with more than 30 beef breeds and 5 dairy breeds registered in South Africa, it is important for farmers to have access to information of available breeds adapted to different production systems & climatic conditions. These breeds originated from different parts of the world with deficiencies in their genetic make-up. This leads to different breeds being more adapted to different production systems under different climate conditions. Therefore, it is important for farmers to make informed decisions when it comes to a specific breed, to ensure optimal production. A mobile application makes a practical method of sourcing information.
