About this app

"RS-R30A" is a remote control application for the ICOM Wideband Communications Receiver "IC-R30." You can operate and change settings by
using an Android device.


Device requirements:
- Android 5.0 or later
- Bluetooth function

Supported receiver:
Icom IC-R30

NOTE:
The RS-R30A may not work with all Android devices, even if it is one of the tested devices. This is because an application program on your device may conflict with the RS-R30A.

Confirm the IC-R30's Serial port function is set to"CI-V (Echo Back OFF)"
( [MENU] > Bluetooth Set > Data Device Set > Serialport Function )

Bluetooth is used to connect with the IC-R30. Depending on the receiver environment, it may not be able to operate properly.

Bluetooth may be disconnected in the following cases:
· The screen of the device is locked.
· The application is running in the background mode.
· Wi-Fi is enabled.
· Connecting or removing a Bluetooth headset.

Ratings and reviews

Works well, but it's functionality is rather limited. What I miss is a way to edit/name channels for example, because that is something which is difficult with the R30's hardware keypad. Some other controls are also a bit clumsy. And when scanning, the blinking text is rather distracting, and it is in the way when a station is found. Further, the radio can do Bluetooth, why not play it on the phone? This app is really only a remote control for the radio. Put an R30 user in the developers team!

Once you read the missing info in the advanced manual only you can get this app going. Easy app to configure and use, hasn't crashed or been flaky and it works perfectly on both our beloved IC-R30's. Sadly Icom discontinued the R30 but really delivered some amazing performance in it.

I really like this app a lot. I had no trouble controlling the R30 using Bluetooth. I feel that it works better on Android devices vs IOS . Just pick up a cheap Amazon tablet and add Google Play . Then install this app and you'll be enjoying the R30 even more.
