Cell C MiAssist is a cell phone based, voice-free panic button system that allows the activation of a panic button in an emergency. On activation, the panic button will initiate a response by ER24 Emergency Medical Services (EMS) or one of the other assistance products By activating the panic button, The whereabouts of the cell phone will be located using location-based services. When the panic button is activated, an instant alert will be triggered at the relevant Contact Centre. The Contact Centre co-ordinator will attempt to reach the person telephonically, and in addition the cell phone number will be routed via a positioning server enabling the cell phone's position to be identified and mapped instantaneously, giving an indication of the location of the distress call. The Contact Centre co-ordinator will then systematically interface with other emergency response services and communicate with relatives, friends, and medical care-givers, to ascertain the exact nature of the distress call and send out the appropriate response unit.
