Hello. We’re Freesat, the UK's subscription free satellite TV service. The Freesat App is a free app for all TV viewers which helps you find whats on across 200 channels. If you’re a Freesat customer, you can even use the app to set recordings when you’re out and about.

There is now no point to this app. I bought my Freesat box and one of the main reasons was so I could use the remote record. Now they've ended that service I can't use the box as it was intended, or the app. Totally pointless having either now and I won't ever be buying a Freesat box again. The app doesn't even let you know this option has been removed so it looks like you're still able to record remotely. Really poor show, Freesat. If the box was in warranty I'd get my money back.

The main point of having this app was for remote recording. I have been setting recordings and wondered why they didn't record. Why didn't they contact account holders to tell them the service was being discontinued? Even worse the red button for recording is still there and pressing it brings up the message that it can take 30 minutes for it to take effect. Hopeless!

This used to be an ok app allowing you to remote record shows, but form for some undisclosed reason they have removed all the remote access accounts. All they have said is "Due to a change to our internal systems, we will be removing Freesat ID accounts from our platform from mid June 2024". It's made the box virtually useless as most people use apps. Can't believe how short sighted this change is. We've not set anything to record since the change.
