ACT mindfully began as a tool to teach to manage thoughts, emotions and unpleasant feelings without avoiding them or being controlled. At the same time it promoted the commitment to act in order to live a life of their own values. In other words, ACT mindfully teaches to act in life directions that have value, changing what can be changed and accepting what can not be. To achieve this goal are used exercises based on the main approaches of the third generation of cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy: specifically the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
