About this app

Over 140,000 authors are already writing their next masterpiece using Novelist!

Novelist is the app that helps you write your novels. And it's completely free: no initial cost, zero advertising and no in-app purchases!

Sounds ambitious? Yes, it is. We don't want you to conform to some framework or methodology. We want to provide you the best tools to plot, outline, organize and schedule your stories.

Plot is when you list all the elements of your story, like on a board. Items can be edited, moved, merged, splitted, reordered and deleted. You can even set a status, write notes and texts or add tags, metadata and pictures to each item. Categories are completely customizable, as are metadata and statuses.

Write is when you put all the items together to compose scenes. Each scene is a piece of your story and can be annotated or written directly in our app!

Organize is when you structure your scenes in acts, parts, chapters and so on. Your imagination is the limit.

Schedule is when you set your goals: word count or due date.

Advanced features:
▪ Write on Web on any browser
▪ Generate and use templates when creating new books
▪ Backup and restore with Google Drive
▪ Book compilation in EPUB, ODT or HTML format
▪ Complete book preview without leaving the application
▪ Rich text editor with format, counters, find/replace and autosave
▪ Mention your items inside texts
▪ Insert and review comments in texts
▪ View and restore previous text versions
▪ Comfortable night mode

Stay tuned for further updates!

I think it's great! Having a fun time writing so far. The only thing I can't seem to find is an indent button? Having to enter five spaces every paragraph to maintain my writing style is a bit frustrating, to be honest. EDIT: As the developer replied, it's automatically applied when previewing or compiling. Whoops! Review updated to 5 stars. Thanks for the wonderful app!

I've only been using this app for a few days, but it's already my favorite. I honestly can't believe it's free. I have ADHD, so being able to write/organize scenes however I want is incredible. One feature I wish for is the ability to import documents, as copy/paste doesn't always preserve formatting. Aside from that, line or paragraph spacing options would be really helpful. Either way, I love everything this app has to offer and would highly recommend.

I'm quite enjoying this app, but I have noticed the sensitivity of the text picker is completely different using this app in comparison to other apps in the scenes text field, which makes editing text *extremely* frustrating. I have to dock a star for this alone. Two critical features missing from this app are automated backup to cloud and automatic local backup of a whole book. Further I would like to see a desktop app that would allow one to transition easily between devices.

Hi, you can use the Web version that totally works offline with the Push and Pull feature to manually sync your content across different devices. I hope this helps. Cheers
