Focus Taiwan’s free news app is the top source of English-language coverage of all things Taiwan, from breaking news to politics, business, technology, sports, culture and much more.

The updated app maintains a similar look to the Focus Taiwan website, but also has a "Media" section, which includes a playlist of the latest 30 news stories in audio and video formats.

In addition to scrolling up and down to read articles and lists of news headlines, mobile device users can also swipe right or left to browse different news categories and articles.

The updated app allows users to bookmark articles and videos in the new "My Stories" feature which can be found in the "Menu" section.

Users will be able to choose the font size and layout of the page to suit their reading habits from the "Menu" section and are welcome to leave reviews or contact Focus Taiwan with feedback.

Ratings and reviews

After a month all the story headlines are still there but now instead of being able to read them a solid black bar covers the story as you scroll down. There is nothing in help or setting that helps the user get rid of the black bar covering the stories. I like the service and have enjoyed the articles but this black bar is very annoying and frustrating.

I would have given 5 stars if I can have an option to control the number of notifications/ news updates I get. My phone just rings for every 2 hrs for similar news. Sadly I have to turn off all the notifications from this app.

This used to be a great app to keep up with Taiwan news. Now the articles cannot be read because a big black rectangular box covers the articles up so they are not readable. There must have been a bad update. I hope they get this fixed! Also, they provide an email address to let them know about issues, but it's not working.
