The Nördlinger Ries, a unique meteorite crater in the north of Bavarian Swabia, is located in the immediate vicinity of the Swabian Alb and southern Middle Franconia. The museum is located in the middle of this impressive cultural landscape in the UNESCO Global Geopark Ries.
In the baroque monastery complex in Maihingen, the regional museum, sponsored by the Swabia district, presents and conveys everyday culture and the history of agriculture in the Ries. On over 6,000 square meters, permanent exhibitions, special exhibitions as well as sample fields, orchards, bee and herb gardens invite you to relax, explore and discover. Festivals, markets and action days as well as a wide range of educational offers have a supra-regional appeal.
The app expands the museum's exhibitions to a new, digital level and offers visitors access to various media such as videos or audio files on their own cell phones. The first tour leads through the bee garden and provides exciting insights into the world of friendly beneficial insects.
