WE THE FCA

FC Augsburg is a traditional club that was founded on August 8, 1907 under the name FC Alemannia and was renamed BC Augsburg twelve years later. In 1969, this BCA merged with the second major Augsburg football club, TSV Schwaben Augsburg, and has played as FC Augsburg ever since.

At that time, FCA had already produced football greats such as Uli Biesinger, world champion in 1954, or Helmut Haller, but initially did not manage to establish themselves at the highest level. After 23 years in amateur football, FCA finally made it into the second division in 2006 before the Fuggerstadt team celebrated promotion to the Bundesliga in 2011.

Since then, the FCA has been an integral part of the top German division. In the 2014/15 season, FCA achieved its best final placement to date and certainly qualified for the Europa League for the first time. There, FCA attracted attention in the games against Athletic Bilbao, AZ Alkmaar and Partizan Belgrade as well as against Liverpool FC.
