Charterhouse Buxheim
In its more than 600-year history, the Buxheim Charterhouse was not only one of the most important monasteries of the Order of the Silent Monks. Rather, it produced outstanding sacred buildings and art monuments, especially in the Baroque period. These include the famous choir stalls by Ignaz Waibl and the rich church and monastery furnishings by the Zimmermann brothers and other South German masters.
In addition, you invite the BR spokespersons Silvie Lisa Sperlich and Dr. Martin Fogt takes us on a multifaceted, entertaining walk through the unusual life of the monks and the ebb and flow of the monastery. The audio guide gives you special views and insights, and brings the history, culture and beliefs of the best preserved German Kartausen complex back to life.
