About this app

Now you can sleep soundly with the soothing algorithms of Fourier analysis. Just sketch your favorite spectrum, and listen to a generated stream of white noise (or more precisely, colored noise). Use it with headphones to drown out neighbors, or tweak the settings to erode eardrums and frighten small children.

Notable features:
- No ads or weird permissions
- Doesn't just play a looped sample
- Relatively power-efficient
- Runs in the background
- Save your favorite sounds in the Memory list
- Contains math
- Open Source / Free Software (GPLv3 license)

When a stand-alone noise machine isn't feasible for me, this has been my go-to app for years: rather than offering a bunch of canned (and, too-often, short-looped) sounds, Chroma Doze allows custom-shaped noise patterns to suit one's needs, which strikes me as ideal, since a one-size-fits-all approach hardly works for different situations and individuals. You might need to noodle around a bit to find the most-effective sound-masking effect, but the straightforward controls make this easy.

I should have rated this years ago. it's the only way I've found to make a custom white noise that sounds exactly like my Dohm fan machine. other apps have good white noise selections, but this one takes the cake for customizability and being open source! I just ran it overnight and it used 30 percent of my phone battery over 10 hours (playing to a Bluetooth speaker). Not bad.

The BEST basic white noise app out there! There are no looped sound recordings, just white noise. You can customize the sound hiss generated and save multiple presets - example: loud covering TV hiss, low 'wind noise', etc. If I could donate to support the Developer's other work, I would throw a few dollars their way in appreciation.
