Pros and Cons of Deleted Verses of the Qur'an

The science of Nasikh Mansukh is an important part of the science of the Koran. Therefore Imam as-Suyuthi included Nasikh-Mansukh as one of the eighty branches of knowledge of the Koran. In addition, there are many atsars regarding recommendations for knowing texts. Among them is the history of Sayyidina 'Ali ibn Abi Talib who once asked a qadhi (judge): "Do you know about nasikh and mansukh?" The judge replied: "No", Sayyidina 'Ali also said: "You can get hurt and you will also harm other people". 1 Knowing Nasikh Mansukh in the Koran is also a requirement that must be fulfilled by a mujtahid in determining the law.

However, even though the concept of the text is agreed upon by almost all scholars, both salaf and khalaf, it does not mean that it is free from opposition. There is one figure, for example, who is often mentioned against the concept of this text, namely Abu Muslim al-Ashfahânî, a mufassir from the Mu'tazilah who lived in the 4th century Hijriah. 3 In addition, among contemporary Islamic scholars, there are names such as Gamal al-Banna, Ahmad Subhi Mansur, Abu Zahrah, Muhammad al-Ghazali, Nashr Hamid Abu Zaid who are on the list of opponents of this scriptural concept.

Because of this, the author will try to review and discuss Nasikh and Mansukh by examining the definition and scope of An-Nasakh, guidelines for knowing An-Nasakh and others, as well as the an-Nasakh controversy in the Koran along with the arguments for each opinion.
