Killer Sudoku (also known as Sumoku, Sum Sudoku, Addoku, or Samunamupure) is a puzzle that combines elements of sudoku and kakuro. Despite the name, the simpler Killer Sudoku can be easier to solve than regular sudokus, depending on the solver's skill at mental arithmetic; the hardest ones, however, can take hours to crack.

A typical problem is shown on the right, using colors to define the groups of cells. More often, puzzles are printed in black and white, with thin dotted lines used to outline the "cages"


The objective is to fill the grid with numbers from 1 to 9 in a way that the following conditions are met:

Each row, column, and nonet contains each number exactly once.
The sum of all numbers in a cage must match the small number printed in its corner.
No number appears more than once in a cage.

Ratings and reviews

Good killer sudoku app ads are unobtrusive and works well. A bit annoying that you have to switch from pencil to pen but once you get used to that it is an enjoyable game. Changed rating as more recently keeps getting stuck on the start up screen - this seems to happen when you don't have a WiFi connection (as mobile data was on with a signal) and it can stay this way for days - most annoying ☹️

Good game. Some solve fairly easily, others I just can't do. I haven't figured out what the colour shading is all about. Sometimes I get a group of numbers shaded with a purple background. What's this trying to tell me? Some numbers are highlited with a blue background. A help reference section would be great. Sometimes if I've spent way too much time on a puzzle, it would be nice to confirm my progress with a check feature.

I like that this game has a pencil and pen function. Without this function, to remove notes you have to select all the numbers that square is not, which is annoying. However, I will continue looking for the perfect killer sudoku app because the yellow highlight is annoying. If I could turn this function off I would use this app.
