Home c8r is an app that calculates and visualizes household chore performance as a monetary value and reflects it in household expense allocation.

◆ Home c8r's Approach

1. Create a Virtuous Cycle with Incentives
Compassion and gratitude are of course important, but sometimes motivation alone isn't enough.
This app provides a clear incentive: the more housework you do, the less your household expenses will be reduced (i.e., your partner will pay more).

By changing the mindset from "it's expected" to "it's beneficial to do it," a virtuous cycle is created in which both partners naturally do housework.

2. Naturally Achieve a Reasonable Division of Duties
Rather than simply deciding who is best at it, it's important to consider each other's busy schedules, income, and other factors and determine who should do the most efficient work.

Home c8r naturally achieves this by setting a "rate" for each household chore.
"I want my partner to do it even if it means paying a high price," or "I'll do it if I'm paid this much."
This system creates a division of labor that is rational for both partners, not based on emotion. (In economics, this is known as "comparative advantage.")

3. Satisfactory Calculation of Household Expense Sharing
There are many ways to divide household expenses, but simply splitting the bill or dividing by income can leave a sense of unfairness.
This app calculates your monthly share of the household chore burden by taking the following factors into account. (For detailed calculation instructions, see Appendix 2 below.)
- Take-home pay for both spouses
- Essential living expenses (expenses essential for work and daily life)
- Accumulated household chore contributions

◆ Setting rates takes some effort

To start using this app, you'll need to set a "rate" for each household chore.
This can be a bit of a hassle, as you'll need to discuss it with your spouse and agree on your perceptions of household chores and their perceived burdens.
However, once you overcome this hurdle, you'll be rewarded with a comfortable life where chores are naturally managed and there's no sense of unfairness.

◆Appendix 1: Advice for Setting Housework Rates

If you're unsure how to set rates, try the following guide:

- The basic rule is "hourly wage x hours x 2."
Multiply the time spent on housework by your estimated hourly wage (for example, 1,000 yen), then double that to arrive at a figure that works for you.
Why double? This is because this rate affects the "difference in household expenses."

・Adjust based on "dislike level."
For chores that require less time but are mentally stressful (you don't like doing them), set a higher rate.

Conversely, for chores that take more time but aren't a burden (you enjoy doing them), you can set a lower rate.

・Leave it to market forces.
If certain chores are being neglected, that's a sign that your rate is too low. Try raising the rate until one of you feels motivated to do them.
On the other hand, if you find yourself fighting over chores, it may be that your rate is too high.

・Set a "temporary" rate first.
It's impossible to determine the perfect rate from the start. Start with a tentative rate, and then adjust it as you go along if you feel it's too low or too high.

◆Appendix 2: Calculation logic for household expenses sharing

Home c8r calculates fair share amounts using the following formula.

Total: Total household expenses to be paid
In1, In2: Income
Pay1, Pay2: Essential living expenses (※1)
Hw1, Hw2: Actual household chore conversion amount
Share1, Share2: Share of household expenses

Assuming this,

Share1 = (Total * In1/(In1+In2)) + (-Pay1 + Pay2)/2 + (-Hw1 + Hw2)/2
Share2 = (Total * In2/(In1+In2)) + (Pay1 - Pay2)/2 + (Hw1 - Hw2)/2

The formula is as follows:

The base amount is determined by the income ratio. The share is determined by adding/subtracting half the difference between the essential living expenses and the equivalent household chore amount (※2).

※1 These are necessary expenses that are essential for an individual's daily life. Discuss and decide on these with your partner. For example, lunch, hairdresser's visits, cell phone, cosmetics, and work suits.
*2 The reason we say it's half is because the converted amount is the difference between the two people's share of the household expenses. For example, if you do housework worth 1,000 yen, your share of the household expenses will decrease by 500 yen and your partner's will increase by 500 yen.
