About this app

The UV-INDEKS app can be used everywhere in the world to provide you with a UV index forecast for your current position or for selected destinations that you add to your profile. You can also see how the expected cloud cover will affect the UV index. You can set the app to either daily updates or alerts when the UV index is 3 or more. The app also contains an interactive guide to help you identify your skin type and get specific advice about sun protection. The free UV-INDEKS app is a collaboration between The Danish Cancer Society, TrygFonden, The Danish Health Authority and The Danish Environmental Protection Agency.

The app looks like it had a lot of thought put into the design. No adds (or at least I haven't noticed any yet). Good UX design overall. The onbord process is well-done. No need for an account. I haven't found a way to manually set the Fitzpatrick skin type yet, but that's not that big of a deal. The distinction between cloud cover and full sun is nice. The information is useful and the personalized recommendations are nice. Thank you!

Well! - for the first while, it dimmed the light on the whole phone whenever started. Now I cannot prevent it from running in the background. Right now at 7 in the morning it will tell me that it's 16 minutes until noon time, so it doesn't even know what time it is. It indicates my Danish city correctly, so it knows where I am, but still it warns of a UV Indeks of 9, which is not possible here.

Great idea, would be very useful if it worked. Constantly crashes or fails to load, can't keep the app open long enough to actually see the UV index
