A prestigious museum in the heart of the Human Valley
With the application "National Museum of Prehistory", discover exceptional collections retracing over 400 millennia of human presence.
Located in the Vézère valley, not far from the famous Lascaux cave, the National Prehistoric Museum offers a complete approach to the Paleolithic, the first occupations of hunter-gatherers in Aquitaine until the end of the Ice Age. stone tools, bone art objects or ivory, life-size reconstructions of prehistoric men and extinct animals make visible the great cultural and environmental changes primarily related to Neanderthals and Homo sapiens.

The "National Museum of Prehistory" invites you to discover the richness of signs exposure. Inequalities in the Neolithic.
During their expansion in Western Europe, Neolithic communities have developed agriculture and animal husbandry, as well as new techniques for making tools and ornaments. Necklaces, daggers, axes, bracelets, manufactured in rare materials and sometimes broadcast on more than 1,000 kilometers, reflect class differences that existed there more than 5,000 years.
Exhibition organized in partnership with the RMN - Grand Palais, presented from June 27 to November 15, 2015 at the National Museum of Prehistory of Les Eyzies-de-Tayac and 1ᵉʳ December 2015 to 17 April 2016 at the Confluence Museum in Lyon.

This application "National Museum of Prehistory" is a first step of a cultural offer for widening.
Temporary exhibitions benefit from 2015 accompanied by a trail of written comments and illustrations.
It will also be proposed this year a version of the enhanced implementation of full route of the permanent collections:
