The Department of Perugia is, by tradition and quality of research and teaching, one of the best departments of political science in Italy. It inherits the tradition of the Faculty of Political Sciences, one of the first established in Italy. It was included among the Departments of Excellence in Italy for the five-year period 2018-2022.
This important success is the result of the results obtained in the field of scientific research, on a project called LEPA, Legality and Participation.
Being a Department of Excellence is not just a brand. For our students it is the guarantee of high level teaching. In fact, the quality of the research directly impacts on university life and on the academic career of students. The possibility of growth of teachers and the ideas that emerge from their research constitute essential resources and values. During the lessons, new, original and innovative contents are proposed, which reflect the tenor of the research carried out in the Department. Studying in a Department of Excellence therefore means being direct recipients of the quality that comes from the interdisciplinary nature of the teachings and the rich academic research that takes place there.
The Department boasts the presence of prominent scholars and scholars both nationally and internationally. The field of study includes a plurality of approaches: political, historical, social, legal, economic-quantitative, linguistic, and it is precisely this multidisciplinary approach that constitutes the real added value of studies in Political Sciences.
To develop research and teaching activities, the Department encourages participation in international research programs and promotes international exchanges for teachers and student bodies, both in the Erasmus network and with non-European universities.
The teaching takes the form of three three-year degree courses, four master's degree courses, in the PhD in "Legality, Political Cultures and Democracy" as well as in the Masters "Design and access to European funds for Culture, Creativity and Multimedia "And" Experts in planning and management of anti-corruption and transparency ".
