Sharana Urilinga Peddi was a person named Peddanna, who was living by stealing, who emerged as a great sharana through the grace of God, an incident that happened, and self-awareness. He migrated from Andhra Pradesh to Kandara or Kandapur in Nandedh district of Maharashtra along with his wife Kalavve. His living with poverty, his job as a thief, his routine was to make a living by stealing. There was a monastery in this same Kandara or Kandapur, the abbot of that monastery was Urilingadeva. One day Urilingadeva decided to give lingadiksha to Suraiya of Nandiwada village and brought all the tools and materials needed for lingadiksha and kept them in the Math. When Peddanna came to know about this, he made an ambush to steal the things that were kept in the monastery, entered the monastery without anyone knowing, and while sitting on the porch of the monastery and waiting for the right time, he found Urilingdev already giving Suraiya lingadiksha. . Soon his thieving career took a turn. A new man had incarnated in Peddanna. Peddanna immediately decided that he too should take lingadiksha. Immediately, Peddanna abandoned his original occupation of stealing, wanted to become an anurak of Shiva, then in his eagerness to receive initiation from Guru Urilingadeva, he brought wood to the monastery for free every day. Guru, I don't want any money, please give me a linga prasadan, then the guru threw in front of Peddi a stone that was lying there to test that Peddanna, this is the linga, take this one (ghe ja dagadichha), Peddi thought it was Guru Karunya, took that stone and worshiped it as linga. . Ghe Ja Dagadichha, which was spoken by the Guru, became the Shiva Mantra for him. Peddanna was meditating, thinking that the stone thrown by the Guru was the Shiv Linga and the mantra said by the Guru. Peddanna, who reached the peak of spirituality, consumed that Parashiva like Urilingadeva as well as Lingapati - Sarana Sati. Recognizing the brilliance in this Peddanna, Urilinga Deva appointed him as the abbot of his Peetha, from then on he was known as Urilinga Peddi. Recognizing the brilliance in this Peddanna, Urilinga Deva appointed him as the abbot of his Peetha, from then on he was known as Urilinga Peddi.
