Namaz - this Persian word means one of the most important types of worship to Almighty Allah: certain words and movements, which together constitute the Islamic prayer rite.
Every adult (according to Shari'a) and a Muslim in his right mind must first learn how to perform namaz, and then daily - at certain intervals - perform it.
In Arabic, namaz is denoted by the word "salt", which initially means "dua" ("prayer" - that is, an appeal to Allah asking for good for himself or other people). The whole complex of words and movements began to be denoted by this word, since dua is the most important part of our namaz.
Namaz is first of all our connection with Allah, as well as an expression of gratitude to Him for all the innumerable benefits with which He bestowed us.
